Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia
A Great Place To Rest Your Nose
Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia is a great travel destination for the whole family. This time it was just the two of us, my husband and myself. We 'rested our noses' there for several days at one of the motels on the grounds. So convenient, no driving necessary, just catch the trolley (or walk). You will be in the midst of a living history masterpiece with various shops, taverns, historic buildings, and inns re-created (some are original). Costumed colonial re-enactors show you life as it was in the 1800s. Guided tours are available, however, we enjoyed just strolling around, visiting each building at our leisure. If your knowledge of history has grown a bit rusty, it might be a good idea to refresh your memory by researching America's beginnings before you go. One of the highlights for me was visiting the Bruton Parish Episcopal church, where George Washington, Patrick Henry, and Thomas Jefferson worshipped while in Williamsburg. Your lodging choices are plentiful in Williamsburg, as well as shopping, restaurants, galleries, and antique shops. If the kids are with you, Busch Gardens Williamsburg will be a favorite destination. Other nearby towns of interest would be Jamestown, which is celebrating the 400th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown and Yorktown. Together with Williamsburg, the three are known as the Historic Triangle. Please click one of the following links for more information:
