As you travel around Key West and visit its many landmarks, do not be surprised to see plaques about Hemmingway scattered here and there. He spent quite a bit of time at the hot spots during his time.

The Audubon House is an authentic 19th century home that has been fully restored and remodeled. It is filled with genuine antiques and paintings by famed naturalist John James Audubon. For anyone who has heard of Audubon or who has seen reproductions of some of his works, the trip to this house will give you memories to last a lifetime.

In December, you have the Key West Holiday Parade in Old Town. This is a family oriented parade celebrating the holiday. You also have the Key West Lighted Boat Parade which features a variety of decorated boats cruising Key West Harbor at night - each one trying to outdo the other as the best decorated boat.

And of course, December would not be complete without a Key West New Year's Eve celebration. Just about every restaurant, hotel and bar will have a celebration and many of them have themes to their celebrations so you can pick and choose to get just the right mood for bringing in the new year. Experience the conch shell drop at Sloppy Joe's Bar or the "wench" drop at Schooner Wharf Bar, and for the more adventurous, the red high heel drop with drag queen Sushi at Bourbon Street Pub/ New Orleans House.
