Philip's Sleep Apnea Story
OK. I'll say it. You're snoring is driving me crazy. I can't sleep. It sounds like a freight train roaring through the house. And then you stop breathing. Silence. Silence for so long that I get really concerned. Come on, Philip, breathe. I lean over to shake you because I don't know whether you're still alive or if you've departed this earth. After all, you are sixty eight years old with a bad heart condition. You finally take a deep breath and it begins all over again. And so it goes, night after night, until you finally go to your physician and get a referral to a Sleep Apnea specialist. Now, just maybe, we can both get some sleep. You report to the specialist's office about 8PM in the evening where you're given a room for the night. It has a queensize bed, a television, a comfortable chair and a private bath. Oops, you didn't bring the mild sedative that the doctor had prescribed to help you sleep and your pharmacy goofed up and didn't have the order. After filling out paperwork, the testing begins. To be continued ...
