Wapiti Wyoming - Did you ever, even in your wildest dreams, think you'd rest your nose in Wapiti, Wyoming, near the entrance to Yellowstone National Park, the oldest and largest park in the United States? I'd never even heard of Wapiti until I began researching for the western trip our family took in 2004.
Wapiti happens to be between the east entrance into Yellowstone National Park and Cody, Wyoming. The park has a total of five entrances in three states, Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho. It has 2.2 million acres and encompasses 3,472 square miles. It will require more visits, I'm sure.
The town of Cody, named for Buffalo Bill Cody, is actually about one hour from the east entrance. You'll find a vast array of lodging choices in Cody.
